One of my eighth students asked me one day, “When I become President of the United States, will you be my speech writer?”
“Um, thanks, but no,” I replied.
I answered that I don’t care enough about politics to learn enough about politics to be a good speechwriter for a President.
Also, by the time he’s electable, I’ll be 70 years old, and I hope to be retired.
But I suppose it’s nice to be asked.
